The second book in the dazzling Spellcaster series from New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray is perfect for fans of the Beautiful Creatures and Hex Hall series.

Nadia, Mateo, and Verlaine saved Captive's Sound from the dark Sorceress Elizabeth…or so they thought. Despite their best efforts, a greater evil has arisen, and its dark magic has begun to call Nadia.

With her Steadfast, Mateo, and her best friend, Verlaine, Nadia must fight the black magic that tempts her, and stop the One Beneath before He comes to claim her power as His own.

If you could sum up Steadfast in three words, what would they be?

Unpredictable, different, exciting.

What did you like best about this story?

I love stories of magic and such, but this one is such a fresh take on it. I love that I honestly did not have any clue what was going to happen and I'm pretty good at calling things beforehand.

What about Khristine Hvam’s performance did you like?

Such a beautiful voice! She was great at differentiating between the voices of the characters without sounding strange or silly. I really did thoroughly enjoy this!

Love this series!

it was a little drake for me. I thought the writing was good as well as the performance

We slide toward apocalypse, including an awfully slow moving CDC epidemic response team. Nadia's clear thinking shrinks chapter by chapter. And as average American high school students, she and her group face world-threatening catastrophe without even seeking any help from anyone beyond their grade in school; except from the sorceress and demon they are trying to outwit. There is plenty of lampshading in this story (Harry Potter references, imagined newspaper articles) as it spirals down; not enough to turn it into a comedy, though. So, I check out. Waiter! Bill please. Sadly, already bought book 3.
