Charlie (H) instantly falls for his new stepsister, Sharon (h), and is surprised to find out she’s his new personal secretary. Sharon is drawn to Charlie but resists his advances since he’s her boss and her stepbrother. But Charlie keeps coming and working to wear her barriers down until things heat up between the two. This is a short and quick read/listen. It is about Sharon and Charlie. They first meet at their parents wedding and the attraction is undeniable. He sees her and knows she is the one but when he finds out she is his new step-sister things are not so easy. She was attracted to him but knows he is arrogant. When she finds out he is her new boss she wants to keep things professional. He has a different idea. This is a fun, flirty and steamy read. The narrator did a good job.

Engaging

I totally enjoyed this engaging story. I loved how Charlie didn’t care what others thought, he was going to get his way. Sharon felt it would be taboo even though it is not in any way. I thought the narrator could have done a little better with discerning between the characters voices they were so very similar. I really enjoyed their parents, they were so personable.

Okay

This is a sizzling short story of a woman and a man who fall into a relationship even though they are step-siblings and boss and employee. Charlie's dad and Sharon's mom are celebrating their wedding and this is the first time they've ever met. There's an immediate connection that turns to surprise when Sharon reviews for a new job and Charlie is the CEO. As much as she fights the idea, Charlie thinks this is the perfect way to claim her as his own. These shorter stories by Emma Bray are usually cute, sweet and definitely stalkerish, all in a good way. This one isn't quite so sweet or sexy when there's so much time spent on Charlie coercing and pushing Sharon for sex. She's a virgin and he unknowingly takes her virginity in an elevator and even though she screams out in pain, he doesn't stop. I was more than a little annoyed with him and it wasn't looking good. I didn't feel much joy from Sharon, just a desire to resign her position. It was okay, but it's not something I'd necessarily recommend.
The narration is very good and, with a dynamic voice, tone and pace, Mackenzie Berry brings each of the characters to life.
