Donna is a successful wedding planner in St. Louis. When her lifelong best friend, Cameron, meets Andie, he has finally met the woman he will marry. Donna is thrilled that Cameron and Andie have found each other. She wishes she could be as lucky. Donna's been planning her own wedding since she was six years old. All she's missing is the guy.

As Cameron and Andie get serious, falling deeper in love, Donna is working around the country, planning destination weddings. Exhausted, she returns to St. Louis to plan Cameron's surprise engagement to Andie. Dealing with Andie's prickly, distant mother, Caroline, and loving but meticulous father, Henry, is a chore for Donna, but she's dealt with worse. The engagement surprise is a fantastic night, and Donna plunges headlong into planning Andie and Cam's wedding day, which Donna promises Andie will be the most amazing St. Louis has ever seen...next to Donna's, which she's been planning since she was six years old. All she's missing is a man who loves her.

But when Donna's exhaustion becomes unbearable, she gets a devastating diagnosis. Forgoing treatment that will put her in bed, Donna vows to herself to make it through Cam and Andie's wedding. She wants to do this one special thing for her friends before she faces the end.

When the truth inevitably comes out, Donna's major concern is that they not replace her. She wants to give them this special day.

Andie and Cameron have another idea. Loving Donna as much as they do, Andie and Cameron decide to give Donna the one thing she's always wanted before she dies - her wedding to a man that loves her.

But no good deed goes unpunished. Andie and Cam must sacrifice to make this happen for Donna. It's difficult for them, but they know they are doing the right thing. They are determined to pull this off for Donna, their sacrifice a small token of their love for Donna.

Donna's lifelong dream comes true. But it's nothing as she imagined. It's far, far more wonderful and overwhelming in the most beautiful and emotional way.
