Coach Jack Ryland knows the signs of a storm, but he has never seen a barometer drop like this. In the small town of Pine Rock, a freak heatwave is about to collide with an arctic front, creating an atmospheric bomb that defies every model.

When the sirens fail and the grid goes down, the first wedge destroys Main Street. But the wind is only the beginning. As the dust settles, the temperature plummets. The polar jet stream has fractured, burying the wreckage in a flash freeze that turns the town into a tomb of ice and steel.

Trapped in a bank vault with forty students, Jack must keep them alive as the oxygen dwindles and the cold seeps through the walls. Outside, climatologist Elena Ross races against a blizzard to breach the town, knowing that the true danger isn’t the storm that passed, but the frozen silence that follows.

Nature has changed the rules. To survive the long winter, they will have to change the game.

I really like this computer narrated voice. Seriously. It’s one of the best I’ve ever heard. (I wish Kindle for IPhone had it!!). Anyways, this book is excellent! Very good descriptions of the action. I felt like I was there. A new take on this genre. Realistic without boring science. 🙂 It’s well worth a credit!!!
