Editorial reviews

Longtime P.A. announcer Harvey Wittenberg's voice, endearingly described in Bruce Wolf's foreword as a "reassuring Gregorian chant", presided over 40-plus years of Blackhawk history. In Tales from the Chicago Blackhawks Locker Room, Wittenberg's unique perspective, encyclopedic knowledge, and exclusive access to coaches and players form a captivating narrative of a storied franchise.

With his smooth, effortless performance, Tom Underwood transports the listener to center ice, and his full, booming voice does justice to one of the most revered in-stadium announcers in NHL history.

Great story and good narrator for the most part. His biggest flaw is mispronouncing Toews' name. It's not toes and that ruined it for me.

Toews aka Toes

The narrated should have taken the time to learn the correct pronunciation for names and awards. It was hard to decide who he was talking about with such terrible pronunciation.

Pronunciation was not great.

Would you try another book from Harvey Wittenberg and/or Tom Underwood?

I would buy another book from wittenberg. The book was just his memoirs and stories aimed at Blackhawk fans. It's nothing thought provoking, its just fun stories for fans.

What didn’t you like about Tom Underwood’s performance?

I will avoid Tom Underwood. I've never listened to a book that mispronounced more names and did so consistently. I would think that the person responsible for narrating the book would have taken time to learn that the name of one of the best players in the NHL currently is named Jonathon Toews, pronounced TAYS and not TOES. And he does this over and over with many player's name - and heaven help us all on the French-Canadian names he butchers

Do you think Tales from the Chicago Blackhawks Locker Room needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

sure...with a different narrator

Poor production

Narrator needs to learn correct pronunciation of the names of the players. It was very annoying!

Bad Narrator!

Was any effort made at all in learning the correct pronunciation of most of the names and awards?! Not some…not a few…but nearly every name for the love of Stanley! At first it was laughable. Then irritating. Will NEVER purchase another Underwood narrated book again…or should I say “ageen”?

Terrible
