I love a single parent book. I love a cowboy book. Put them together 🥵🥵. Bowen is a widower with a 10 year old son. His wife died while he was away at the rodeo. He feels unrelenting guilt for not being there so he throws himself into every rodeo he can attend. Paisley is a divorced mother of two. She’s barely making ends meet while her rich POS ex doesn’t help her at all. The two meet when their sons play a video game online together. I love the narrators although as a southern American, when they try for the Texas accent some of the characters have, I cringe a bit 😂. But this is one of my favorite rereads and I loved the audiobook too.

I loved their first interaction! The singing in the background over a Playstation? Too funny! The only criticism I have is about the ex-husband. Nothing felt resolved with him and I wish he would have paid for, at least, a little bit of Paisley's troubles - since he was mostly responsible for them. Otherwise, loved it!

I wanted Johnathan to get his just desserts. That didn't happen so the points given reflect that.

So, Australia doesn’t enforce child support?

Basically like the concept of the story, but I find it hard to believe that a wealthy man, with no record of strong political influence, gets by without providing financial support for his children. Which, if it were only a small part of the story, wouldn’t raise that many “no way in hell” reality flags. But it’s entire premise of the story, so sorry, but it makes it hard to not want to, figuratively, shake the heroine until she hires a good lawyer. Kept waiting for her to, but she accepts her circumstances until the very end.
