A powerful story of two unlikely friends brought together by the love of a dog.

It takes only one day at their new school for Parker and Sven to become mortal enemies. Parker's had a terrible summer and just wants to be invisible while Sven is desperate to make an impression and be known as anything other than 'that boy with epilepsy'.

When Parker discovers her beloved dog, Alaska - whom she had to give away last year - now belongs to Sven, she's determined to steal her back. Of course, that's easier said than done....

Good story, good narators, only one thing was bad, the variation of the volume. Some of us use ear buds and headphones and sudden loud yelling can be painful, and damaging to the ears, because you don't know when its coming or aren't fast enough to turn it down. Can something be done about the extremes in volume in most audio books?

Delightful story, I learned a lot.

This book is about two middle school students who connect through a dog, Alaska. Sven and Parker do not hit it off at the start of school. Then Parker, new to school, discovers that her old dog is Parker's service dog, and Parker has a seizure disorder. This is a story about two kids who feel like misfits in different ways, and who are brought together through a dog. As an adult, I enjoyed the audiobook, as did my 8 and 11 year-old grandkids.

Enjoyable novel for all ages
