From NY Times Best-selling Author Charlotte Hughes

Summer Pettigrew is in desperate need of a fiancé, a temporary job, mind you...

Bad Boy Cooper Garrett answers the call. He swaggers into Summer's High Society Life oozing testosterone. He's hardly what Summer expected, the man straddles a mean looking motorcycle, for Pete's sake! But Summer is stuck with him for the time being, even though her pulse skyrockets each time he steals a kiss.

Cooper willingly plays the doting fiancé, but he has one thing on his mind: Bedding the proper Miss Pettigrew! And although Summer is tempted to take a ride on the wild side, she fears it will lead her down a road to heartbreak.

Oooh. I quite liked this unexpected gem that I was gifted via audible in exchange for an honest review. The story, told in dual POV follows Summer Pettigrew, high society socialite and ad executive and, "tall dark and bad" bike mechanic Cooper Garrett (love the name so much). Summer needs a fake boyfriend, and fast, her best friend sends his cousin, Cooper to the rescue. Sooo not the fake boyfriend Summer was expecting. What was her friend thinking? Things turn from bad to worse quite quickly when Cooper ends up spending the night (quite innocently I might add), at Summer's condo, much to the chagrin of Summer's socialite church going grandma. However a relationship does ensue and things are looking up until Summer discovers the real truth behind her 'fiance', and what he has been hiding (in plain sight I might add) from her. I loved Cooper, a true alpha male and gentleman all rolled in to one. Summer however I did find to be a spoilt, selfish brat who couldn't see past her own issues. Overall, a light easy read.

It's not a bad story just little too contrived, it's a bit steamy but that really all it has going for it. The author shows promise but she's not quite there yet. Narrator does a fairly good job with the different characters and I would listen to a book she narrates again. She just needs to slow down a bit.

Doesn't quite live up to the title

What did you love best about Tall, Dark, and Bad?

To be honest, I really love Summer's grandmother, Henrietta! She's just adorable, funny, and absolutely lovable.
As a whole, the book is quick-paced and enjoyable with a lot of humor so it really tickled me me from start to finish. :D

What does Elizabeth Klett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The feelings brought by her voice acting. I certainly love it. It sounds natural, and changes as she goes from one character to another and that distinct difference is really good.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laughed to bits, yes!

Any additional comments?

It's one of my favorites from Charlotte Hughes. Summer's pretty feisty and headstrong too :)

Love in a web of lies

The love story is sweet and easy going. The complications were treated very superficial I think this story had much more to give but it is good! Light and sweet is the perfect description for this book!

Good book!
