Podcasters Maeve and Finn have just gotten a life-changing, blockbuster deal for their viral sex and relationships podcast, Tell Me How You Really Feel. Unfortunately, given their history, they can barely be in the same room together.

Now, Maeve needs to find a way to keep the show going without letting Finn completely ruin her. But to make things even more challenging, Finn is dead set on winning her back over. Told between flashbacks to the start of their show and the present, Tell Me How You Really Feel follows Maeve and Finn as they navigate their growing celebrity, try to make podcast history, and rediscover what they mean to each other.

A contemporary read dealing with topics of equality, social media and anxiety and a streaming show about sex. While there is a solid attempt to put the romance as the focus, it actually revolves around the three topics. This second chance romance goes back and forth so many times making it feel like the romance of the story is somewhat lost. The plot is slow moving and a repetition of equality in different ways. It overpowers the romance of the book. The book is easy to read and the streaming topic is funny and entertaining at certain parts. However, the book had more of a serious focus than a relaxing one.

Finn and Maeve have just secured a huge deal for their sex and relationship advice podcast. Unfortunately, they had a falling out and are no longer even friends. Maeve wants to figure out how to keep the podcast going and Finn wants to win her back.

I just wasn’t captivated by this one. Second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes, but I had a hard time with these characters. The book is dual POV and dual timeline, which made it a little hard to follow (especially because the “past” timeline was not that long ago).

There was a lot of miscommunication in this book! Maeve (who is a therapist) would know exactly what to say to podcast listeners asking for advice, but then she could not actually say what she meant when interacting with Finn. It got pretty frustrating when it happened multiple times. I did appreciate the discussion through the podcast about the gender pay gap and inequity in the workplace. Overall, this book just wasn’t for me.

The audiobook itself was well produced. I enjoyed the narrators' voices for all of the characters.
