Total waste of money! I can't finish listening as the narration and awful attempt at character voices makes it unbearable!

Awful Reading!

Hm. I’m a fan of Lisa Hall and I’ve had this book in my wish list for a while but the low ratings deterred me from getting it. But I decided to just go for it and I ended up liking the pacing and and the twists. However, the other reviews are accurate that emphasize how utterly clueless the main character, Steph, is. She really is excruciatingly oblivious to all the obvious stuff happening around her so it makes the events easier to unravel— but very unrealistically. This book has the framework for a great psychological thriller with a lot of twists and turns but the execution is so oddly unbelievable. The ending was extremely unfortunate and wholly unsatisfying. On a positive note, I was still able to remain engrossed in the drama and suspense from start to end, as far fetched as it was. I was entertained but most definitely not impressed, so it wasn’t a total loss and I don’t regret getting it.

I was entertained but NOT impressed at all.

I find it very peculiar that with such a twist in her first book, "Between you and me," that this one should be so predictable from the very beginning. Also, the book ended very "unfinished" for me. There were lots of obvious things that could have been done to put this to rest very easily without the hours it took to listen to it. A protagonist that blind is just not believable at all—especially with all she'd been through previously. I hate to say that I was very disappointed with this one, as I was really looking forward to it. I should have taken heed to the many reviews that said it was predictable.
