The Bourne Matrimonial Agency has one rule: Never fall in love with the client. However, they never said anything about kissing a rake…

Briar Bourne’s matchmaking career could be summed up in two words—comic disaster. Unless she can learn about the irresistible forces that draw men and women together, her professional future looks rather bleak. But Briar has an intriguing plan—enlisting London’s most irredeemable rake to teach her everything he knows about attraction. Given his notorious reputation, it’s no surprise that Nicholas Blacklowe, the Earl of Edgemont, requests one thing in exchange for his tutelage. For every lesson, he wants a kiss in return. And what harm could there be in a simple kiss? After all, Briar would never fall for a scoundrel…

Nicholas has no romantic notions about love, and no intention of changing his ways. He’s only helping Briar so that she can find the perfect bride for his jilted cousin. Yet Briar is so clever, so curious, so candid—so blasted tempting—that soon, Nicholas can’t stop wondering what it might be like if he was irresistible to her.

Ten lessons. Ten kisses. And a million ways to fall hopelessly, scandalously in love.

Liked the bubbly and positive heroine. The rake was good too, if stubborn. Low bad guy stuff hooooraaaay! No mystery!!

Great romance and low angst

Finally a book that has satisfying grovel!! I dislike it when the heroine gives in too quickly or the main male character doesn’t hardly even grovel. This was a super satisfying read! I loved both characters and despite there being Other Woman stuff at the very beginning when she meets him kissing another woman, it was necessary for the plot and there wasn’t any mention of MMC with anyone after meeting the MFC. So if you hate OW stuff like me you’ll find this won’t be an issue.

Excellent GROVELING!

I really enjoyed this book. This author has a talent in developing characters and keeping the story moving. I loved the main characters and how their relationship unfolded. This books was light, playful and so sweet.
The narrator was excellent.

Lovely and sweet.

I’m so glad I stayed with the series. The second book was much more enjoyable and fun. The chemistry between the two main characters was enticing and sizzled at the right moments. As mentioned in my previous review, the author has wonderful knowledge of the craft and executes it to perfection. She also creates delicious metaphors that add to the story rather than kick you out of it, which is my froth on a perfectly made cup of chocolate and the first taste of a well made scone (and if you read this story, you’ll know what I mean). Justine Eyre is one of my favorite narrators on Audible. I definitely recommend this book.

Second time is the charm….

I enjoy Ms. Lorret's stories because her characters are very approachable, clearly drawn and quirky at times. One learns of their strengths and flaws through the unfolding of the tale as opposed to just being told. This story was funny and emotional, well told and allowed for the characters to grow as individuals and as a couple.

entertaining
