The Inuit people call it Akhlut, and legends tell of a horrific monster, a freak of nature from the depths that appears every six years in search of flesh and blood.

Mount Aire is a secluded enclave on the Kenai Peninsula where folks do their best to live quiet lives away from the chaos of civilization. The town’s peace is shattered when a musher is killed during the annual Terimore 200 sled dog race, and signs of a strange creature are found at the murder scene. Murmurs recalling the year of the beast percolate through town. Six years ago, three died, five the cycle before that.

Wildlife Trooper Terry Wyatt had seen and heard it all before. His father and uncle were lost on the lake when he was a boy, and it had been a year of the beast.

And it was all happening again.

From the author of Crimson Falls, Wolves of the Sea, and The Breach comes a new sea monster thriller filled with murderous creatures lurking in a harsh environment so real you'll come away frostbitten.

This story is okay as it's like a three star movie. The honestly about the story is that have good setting, idea, and expression. A cold winter creature story and explore it's execution. Characters and creature in this story.

good about the story is how detailed in action of the story. Characters interactions and progress in the story.

but the heavy hit of the story is that it's too fast, lacking on character development, talk of animal felt unseen and saying things that isn't there, exploring less like knowing more of the place or the creature than making it simple tell, and just kept on dodging. the story isn't matching up and felt skipped like it wanted to reach the climax than how the story is made. Background of each characters felt they have less importance like the relationship, history, helping, or presence. This story shown little of them and felt that the story should extend more about them. shouldn't be skipped or ignored. Felt the story isn't a horror story and felt like a thriller.

Even the creature of the story, just felt less important about it like simply calling it a monster? It felt it just there to kill? felt the story should explore more of the creature than being killed? No important it has for the story that felt it shouldn't be ignored. if they want to see how special it is? tell how it reacted to humans? how it hunts? There is nothing tell what it does?

Okay Story but have few things

Good dialog, interesting storyline. For the love of all that is good… PLEASE do more homework on how animals behave, ( a large hawk “fighting” a mouse??? Really A mouse would go down in one gulp… It would also be nice if little research was done on WHERE a story is supposed to be taking place in. As an Alaskan, I can understand and ignore the mispronunciation of place names… but good grief… polar bears on the Kenai? (Key’- nigh)… there are no deer, lynx dont attack people, devil grass? stickery bushes? A single 10 minute phone call to almost anyone living up here could have given you the 411.

Fun premise
