Tess of the d'Urbervilles: A Pure Woman Faithfully Presented was Thomas Hardy's penultimate novel.

First published in 1891 and now considered a great classic of English literature, the book received mixed reviews when it first appeared, in part because it challenged the sexual mores of Hardy's day.

Thomas Hardy (1840 - 1928) was an English novelist and poet of the naturalist movement.

I can't even drive to Barnes and Noble and buy the book for this amount. The narrator does a good job and has a pleasant voice. The story was dismal, but of course, a classic and well-written. I needed to help my dyslexic son with an advanced placement class in high school by discussing it with him. We've both listened/are listening to it. This was a big help, although truth be told, I'd have never listened to this on my own.

Great Deal

I cannot describe how much I hated this book. I am a lover of classic literature, and I expected to like this book as well, but wow I hated it. I couldn't have cared less about any of the characters, especially Tess. I finished it only because it's almost impossible for me to start a book and not finish it. But it was a total waste of time. Possibly the worst book I've ever read.

Never hated a classic so much
