Against the backdrop of 20 half-naked models on DD land, and in the midst of fighting the oil establishment that just won't give Riley a chance, Texas Heat is the story of one hot summer in Texas with a Gay Rodeo, humor, angst, and a love between two men that just grows stronger every day.

Jack hires Robbie, a man recovering from a great loss, to be his right hand man. Meanwhile, Riley's mischievous photographer friend, Eli, decides the DD is the perfect backdrop for a cowboy themed model shoot. Eli has secrets not even Riley knows about but despite what he is hiding he falls in lust with Robbie at first sight. Everyone except Robbie can see how perfect Eli would be for him.

What happens when secrets spill and lies are discovered? And just how far will Riley and Jack go to play matchmaker?

Texas Heat is the third book in RJ Scott’s Texas series. This series must be read/listened to in order as it follows the lives of Riley and Jack Campbell-Hayes and their family. I’ve read and listened to this series many times and every time I fall in love with it more.

Nothing is simple in the lives of Jack and Riley and in this third book, that constant remains. I love each of these books and experiencing the family being built. Jack and Riley’s love and life is strong. In this book, you get to see them stand as a couple even more than the others. They’ve become more comfortable as a family of three and have grown into their father positions.

In this book, we get the addition of Robbie and Eli. Robbie is hired to work on the farm with Jack and Eli is an old college friend of Riley’s. This book not only focuses on Jack and Riley, but also Robbie and Eli. They both have their own hardships to overcome, but with a loving relationship like Jack and Riley around, both men are able to work through their history to find a life together. Though the soap opera drama in this book is less than the first, there is still plenty of drama.

Sean Crisden is a fantastic narrator that brings this story to life! Even when I read this story, I hear his voice narrating it in my head because it’s perfection! He is able to give each character distinctive voices and is consistent with the use. He has an enjoyable voice, keeps a great pace and is clear and concise is his narration. He conveys emotions through the characters and lets the focus be on the story and characters, not the narration.

If you’ve never listened to this audio, or read this series, I’d highly recommend it! Though I love both the books and audiobooks, my preference is the audiobook. It’s easy to fall into the story, shut out the outside world and just be part of the Campbell-Hayes family.
