A powerful businessman seeks refuge

…but his secrets never stay hidden.

Before he testifies in an important case, businessman Michael “Mikey” Fiore hides out in Jacobsville, Texas. On a rare night out, he crosses paths with softly beautiful Bernadette, who seems burdened with her own secrets. He hears whispers about a life-threatening condition, her solitary existence. This doesn’t stop him from wanting her, which endangers them both. Their bond grows into passion…until shocking truths surface.

So glad that Jessie didn't end up breaking them up for good with her tricks of saying she overheard them saying that they had doubts about each other. They make a wonderful pair and now he will help her with her rheumatoid arthritis injection funding so they can have kids.

I have many of her books and Audible books , she has not disappointed.
this book was very hard to put down. The people are very believeable ,even when the the bad girl got started.

The story was predictable and slow.the narrator was a bit slow as well. Hard to separate the characters. I felt for the Bernie with the arthritis. It was very sad.

Heart felt story.

Listened to other books by this author but Texas Proud was my least favorite. There was no real story plot, no mystery. The love story sounded as if it was written by young innocent teenagers.

Lack of mystery
