When the odious son of a failing steel baron announces they are engaged in order to marry into her rich family, Sally is truly fed up. Taking her life in her hands, she runs away and decides to become a mail-order bride.

Before she knows it, Sally is in Shallow Gulch, Idaho, married to a handsome, stoic rancher named Karl Homer. She cooks for him, cleans for him, takes care of his infant daughter - but all along, she suspects she is not cut out for this life. A marriage of necessity to an aloof man is certainly not what she hoped for, but there seems no way out of her new predicament.

It’s only when disaster strikes that things change - and Sally begins to suspect that, against all odds, she’s falling in love with her own husband.
