Anyone can do the most important things.

It's pressing in on us from all sides: the pressure to be amazing. But have you ever considered that there might be an advantage to being...average?

In a world obsessed with "amazing," join pastor Mark Arant in exploring the ways that Christians can live differently, embracing the fact that none of us is really a big deal. We don't have to be extraordinary to live the good life. Jesus has shown us the way, and anybody can get in on it.

Mark aspires to be average. He does this because he believes that Jesus is most clearly on display when we stay out of the way and we simply accept being “used.”

Mark taught me that I am not a big deal, but Jesus is. What better plans could I have for my life than to go on a adventure with Jesus? Why would I want to be amazing when I could simply be faithful and follow my King?

If this book feels like a sermon at times, that’s because it is. This book is the sermon of Mark’s life, and it is well told.

Is it the perfectly timed message for a culture of social media and “zoomers?” Or, is this the same timeless message of the Gospel that has been proclaimed for ages? Is this timely or is it timeless? I think it is both.

I came for the wisdom, the loving pastoral advice of an average turtle named Mark Arant. I left weeping from the most compelling Gospel call I have heard in years.

Timely or Timeless?

Mark has a way of writing that makes things incredibly clear. This book was both convicting and hope-filled. Incredibly relatable and full of truth, this book answers the questions: What am I here for? What is my purpose? In a society that values the hustle and applauds self-promotion, Mark’s message is particularly poignant. The audio narration was excellent.

Amazing book about the benefits of being average
