This was an outstanding visit to the Surrey Downs, and an interesting explanation for why Sherlock Holmes retired at such a relatively young age. There are also a few interesting conceits that I won’t spoil for the listener.

The narrator was simply amazing. He made me believe I was listening to a full cast recording rather than a one man show. He never misread or mispronounced any words that I noticed. I just sank back into the tale, and enjoyed myself.

This is clearly part of a longer story arc, though it stands quite well on its own.

Listen and enjoy!

The book was very short and was able to flow nicely; with a framework of historical events, of even provided some facts that have been buried in time.
