An horrific shooting on a crowded London commuter train in broad daylight sparks a determined manhunt. A desperate search for a killer. As well as the seemingly ordinary traveller who attempted to intervene.

Who was he? And why on earth did he run?

Answers are needed and fast. Because the police are not the only ones looking.

Miles Dalton is more at home in front of his computer than out in the real world. Now, the self-confessed nerd finds himself the centre of his very own life or death adventure game, hunted relentlessly by skilled teams of killers who have no intention at all of taking him in alive.

His only hope for survival is D.S. Sam Lennox. However, she is battling demons of her own.

New, untested, surrounded by resentment and plagued by her past, Lennox faces an impossible choice.

To save herself and her fledgling career.

Or risk everything for a complete stranger and do what she knows to be right.

This is a well-written, fast-paced thriller that dives into the action from page one and keeps things moving. The narrator does a great job bringing the characters to life—my 4-star rating for performance is all about his work, not the audio quality. Unfortunately, the sound production wasn't the best, which made it harder to fully enjoy. With cleaner audio, this would’ve been an even better listen.

This book was narrated by David Paterson, a new narrator for me. I enjoyed his narration and the life he brought to this fast-paced, action-filled story. I don't want to spoil anyone's enjoyment of this refreshingly interesting story by giving anything away. The "blurb" for the book tells you what to expect, but it doesn't tell you that you will be hooked from beginning to end, I know I was, or convey the depth of character the author has given to our leading man, Miles, an unlikely hero and computer geek.

This exciting story flows well and has several unexpected twists I didn't see coming., If you are a fan of adventurous thrillers, you should take a chance on this one; you won't be disappointed.

The Ajax File is a gripping thriller that pulls you in from the first chapter and keeps tightening the screws as the mystery unfolds. M. J. Webb has a real talent for building tension — every clue, every conversation, every narrow escape adds another layer to a conspiracy that feels bigger and more dangerous by the page.

What I enjoyed most is how sharp and cinematic the pacing is. The characters feel believable, the stakes rise quickly, and the plot moves with the kind of urgency that makes you say “just one more chapter” until you’re suddenly at the end.

If you enjoy thrillers filled with espionage, secrets, and clever twists, The Ajax File is an exciting, edge-of-your-seat read.

I had very little expectation going into this, as indie books can be hidden gems but far more often are not. I was highly surprised, and now here I am following the author and waiting for a follow up book.
The action started almost immediately, the pacing was consistently engaging, the writing clean and concise, the plot well-laid and presented, and the characters 3d and fully developed, as well as likeable and believable.
The narration was excellent. That's always another fear with indie stickers but again, pleasantly surprised by a mile. I highly recommend and look forward to the next book!

Wow. That was a heart pounding good time. The action never stopped. From the first scene, through to the last chapter. My heart was going so fast, my palms were sweating.

The connection between our first victim and the MC had me making guesses at every turn of the page. And when the mystery finally revealed itself, it was done perfectly. Great read.

My first book from this author, and definitely won't be my last.
