Her hands heal everyone but herself. Now, a stranger's desperate need is breaking through her walls.

Independent midwife Leah Beiler has devoted two years to proving herself worthy of her grandmother's healing legacy. When an Ohio newcomer arrives with mysteriously dying cattle, her herbal knowledge is his last hope for survival.

David Hochstetler came to Lancaster for a fresh start. His cattle's illness threatens everything he has left. The community's healer holds salvation, yet working with her risks both their reputations when whispers spread.

As summer fever strikes the district's children, their partnership turns essential for survival. Yet growing feelings challenge everything as community expectations clash with undeniable need.

Will Leah choose the safety of solitude or risk her heart with a man whose past threatens their future?

This book tells of the interests of a midwife in her role, in an Amish community. There are no birth scenes. Mostly the story focuses on the midwife's herbal expertise and how her new love interest is able to fit into her independent life. The virtual voice slaughters pronunciation and normal inflection making it therefore problematic to listen to. If you can ignore or internally correct the gaffs it's not a bad story.
