Before he was recognized as Saint Francis of Assisi, he was known as Francesco Bernardone. He lived in Assisi, Italy from 1182 to 1226. During the last 20 years of his life, he dedicated himself to helping others who were in need of food, clothing, and shelter. But most importantly, he instilled those who he helped with care, tolerance, and love.

The Anthology and Poetic Musings captures some of the scenes out of Francesco’s life after he made a commitment to helping others. These scenes reflect some of the emotional challenges he encountered as he lived in self-inflicted poverty. Those who loved him, including two of his best friends, Sister Clare and Brother Leo, supported his dedication to a difficult lifestyle.

Embedded in the poetic musings are clues to solving the location of the Mask of Assisi.
