I have been struggling with helping my brother, who is dealing with attachment issues. I found this wonderful audiobook to help me understand what he is going through so I could help him. I found this book to be perfect for those who have no previous knowledge of what CBT is or anxious attachment, for that matter. The book is well written, and the narrator is super easy to understand and follow.

Wether intentional or not, our brains learn to store information that help us avoid pain in the future based on past hurts. An example of this might be driving down the street and seeing someone in another car that looks like your ex! All those painful memories might come flooding back if you haven’t done the work, and that’s no good. Jo Mills helps us go even deeper than the aforementioned example and lays out the foundational aspects of having our survival mechanisms calm down while triggered by anxious attachment scenarios and deal with things with clarity and in the most mature manner we can, no matter the attachment style. If one practices these exercises and understands these behaviors thoroughly, secure attachment can be restored.
