The Apology (Latin: Apologeticum or Apologeticus) is Tertullian's most famous work, consisting of apologetic and polemic. In this book, Tertullian defends the Christian Church, demanding legal toleration and that Christians be treated as all other sects or religions of the Roman Empire. It is in this treatise that one finds the phrase: "The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church."

Tertulian is clearly a chad… such a great book.

He destroys the Roman magistrates from every possible angle and many of his arguments have application even today

A view of Christ

It is rewarding to dig into the writings of the early Christians. There is something special which seasons their works: a closeness to the apostles who walked with Christ and the purifying of pagan persecution which hovered over them. They have a genuineness and soberness which marks their age distinctively from ours. This book is a treasure among them and should be read by every christian who wants to be a serious defender of truth.

The post NT christian apology that set the standard.

Interesting Story

Absolute masterpiece of conviction, wit, theology, and zeal. Addressed to the Roman governors in a time of widespread Christian persecution with no trace of fear and every sign of God’s glory shining through human pen. Remarkably pertinent teaching on divorce, life in the womb, demonology, and holy living.

Great narrator!

Outstanding Even Among the Patristic Writings
