The Army We Have: Desert to Desert

SPC Phillip is trying to understand his place in the mechanized infantry. When his commanding officer gives the brigade a briefing on their upcoming action to end Ctenizidae piracy, he can’t help but question the wisdom of sending crack cold weather troops to a scorching desert planet. As the saying goes, ‘ours is not to question why…’ So, his brigade is loaded into vessels to cross the wastes of interstellar space and bureaucracy.

Dropping into a nightmare of combat and logistical blunders, Phillip fight what seems like a never-ending conflict from one dune to another. In the mire of combat, he fights for his country and injured seems to be his only reward.

Recovery makes him wonder what he was fighting for. After experiencing the horrors of conflict, he wonders how he can ever return home a changed man. Will his reintegration into a stable life be filled with joy and recovery or a living hell?
