For almost three decades, renowned baby-seller Georgia Tann ran a children's home in Memphis, Tennessee—selling her charges to wealthy clients nationwide, Joan Crawford among them. Part social history, part detective story, part expose, The Baby Thief is a riveting investigative narrative that explores themes that continue to reverberate today.

The historical fiction book Before We Were Yours lead me to this book as it is cited as a reference. This is exceptionally done! The interviews with children touched by the cracks in the system as well as fhe authors personal experiences with adoption make it all easy to digest while being a hard reality to hear. The narrator is also outstanding and passionately tells the Story. I’ve listened to many nonfiction. This is one of the best
