On learning of his father’s death Alex returns to Loch Lomond to take up the role of chieftain. With great relief he puts aside his father’s dream of him raising the proscription of the MacGregors, instead aiming to become the best chieftain he can for his clan.

To his horror, he soon realises that being clan chieftain is far more complex and difficult than he could have imagined, as his decisions both jeopardise the clan’s trust in his abilities and threaten to destroy his relationship with his brothers.

As he starts to settle into life as the chieftain, a letter arrives from England which tears his life apart, leading him to make a choice that will have dramatic and unforeseeable consequences for his clan and those he loves.

Absolute perfection!

I was absolutely ecstatic to be listening to this story - We finally discover the origins of Alex as Anthony, the incredibly complex and fascinating character who has lived rent free in my head since discovering The Jacobite Chronicles many years ago (thanks to the amazing Will Watt)! If you love #HistoricalFiction this epic story is painstakingly researched, historically accurate, and truly a stunning example of all the things I love about audiobooks. I experience the full gamut emotions throughout the entire series, but also in this specific chronicling of The Baronet's Tale and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Julia's casting of Will Watt led me to this series and every casting choice is absolute perfection. I can't wait to experience all of it!

It was so good and filled in so many details that I am listening again to the full Jacobite Chronicles series.

Fantastic narrations!

Both narrators did a fantastic job with the characters! I love listening along while reading. The story is a part 2 and part of the prequel of the main series, but is also a stand alone read. The characters are very well written and the historical setting is very well researched. Loved it and love the whole series! Enjoy!

SUPERB

I absolutely love this book. I listened to the Jacobite Chronicles series about a year ago and loved them. I also listened to all the books that went along with them after Julia Brannon had finished the series. They were all SO good!
Before listening to the Baronet’s Tale Anthony part two I went back and listened to the first Baronet’s tale as a refresher.
Now I think I may want to listen to all of them all over again. The writing is amazing. The books are hard to put down. And the narrators are some of the best I’ve ever listened to.
Highly recommend this series!

Brings the Jacobite Chronicles series full circle

Fabulous writing combined with amazing narration. The characters are so well written that they feel like real people and the narrators bring them fully to life.

Historical value interwoven

Fantastic series leaves you wanting more. Would make a great TV series and definitely as good as Outlander
