A character driven short story focusing on a professor asking a student at risk of failing his class a chance to earn enough extra credit to pass and not have to attend a much hated lab. His only task for enough credits to pass his class. It was as simple as house sit the professor’s home for the weekend. After agreeing to the professor’s request, the teacher gives his student his address and tells them to be there at five o’clock. The professor discussed the rules of the house with the pair. He emphasized that no one, for any reason, is to come up to the house while he is away. Most importantly, no one is to go down into the basement under any circumstances. During the course of the weekend, several noises are heard in the house during the weekend. The house is searched for the source of the noise, but nothing is ever found. The only thing out of the ordinary they discover is the basement door ajar and neither of them opened the door. Both understood their explicit instructions were to stay out of the basement and not to call the police. The overwhelming urge to search the only part of the house not searched grows greater and greater. Can the two keep out of an area that have been told not to enter? Romantic Suspense Science Fiction
