Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.

Sarah is experiencing several crises on multiple fronts. Max, the man she loves, is dying. She has to help him die with the assistance of a doctor in Los Angeles. The two decide to drive out to the West Coast together with Julia, Max’s young daughter, because Max wants to have one last road trip with Julia and wants Sarah to bond with the young girl.

They’re going to go the long way through to see the country - camping out under the Smoky Mountain stars; going to Disney World; visiting Helen, Georgia, where they’ll be meeting Quinn; swimming with the dolphins in Miami; going to New Orleans; and just have a one-last-time fun bonding trip while Max still has the strength.

After Max dies, Sarah’s real life has to begin. She has to make several decisions. Will she remain on Max’s farm? Will she sell it? Will she go forward with the school board, or will being a single mother take up too much of her time?

And what happens when Mary, Max’s sister, shows up, demanding custody?

In the meantime, Willow is dealing with some traumatic experiences of her own. She’s being haunted by two 1920s squabbling ghosts who are each very clear that she, too, must go to Los Angeles. Apparently, her soul mate, Jackson Flynn, Ava’s son, is going to need her magickal help. And these two ghosts won’t stop haunting her until she relents.

One problem - she has no desire to be in a relationship, with Jackson or anybody else. Can she tell the meddling ghosts to shut up and back the hell off, or will she be stuck catering to their demands?

In this feel-good beach read with a touch of magic, Ava and her friends and family will become your best friends. Come and share their joys and heartbreaks, their tragedies and triumphs. For fans of Susan Mallery, Jude Devereaux Nantucket Bride series and Elin Hilderbrand!

The total change of direction and location is absurd. Moving everyone to California is bizarre.

Mechanical voice is different than other artificial voices

A1 narrators are terrible. But this one by far is the worst. One can’t tell when characters change. And the story was ridiculous.

No emotion in virtual voice and it makes these books so boring. I skipped all the Willow chapters just to get through it faster.

Virtual voice is killing these books!

This is not great. Between the awful AI and the horrible Willow chapters, I'm aost tempted to not continue the series. The other books were great despite the AI narrator. This one though, totally jumps the shark. Disappointing
