The Beresford

Just outside the city – any city, every city – is a grand, spacious but affordable apartment building called The Beresford.

There’s a routine at The Beresford. For Mrs May, every day’s the same – a cup of cold, black coffee in the morning, pruning roses, checking on her tenants, wine, prayer and an afternoon nap. She never leaves the building.

Abe Schwartz also lives at The Beresford. His housemate, Sythe, no longer does. Because Abe just killed him. In exactly 60 seconds, Blair Conroy will ring the doorbell to her new home and Abe will answer the door. They will become friends. Perhaps lovers. And, when the time comes for one of them to die, as is always the case at The Beresford, there will be 60 seconds to move the body before the next unknowing soul arrives at the door.

Because nothing changes at The Beresford, until the doorbell rings ...

great premise

It didn't play out quite how I thought it may but that's good. little softer on the edges with some unexpected sharp bits. I enjoy the use of buildings as an almost character type stories and this didnit quite well. Ending was a bit quick and lightly unsatisfying but still keeping with the rest of the story so also a win there. well narrated I thought. worth the listen.

wasn't what I was expecting

If I knew what this was going to be about I definitely would of passed. I don't go for stories that are heavily religious, violent, gross ect. I knew where it was going during the first chapter. Not giving a "spoiler" but it goes right in to dissolving and disposing of bodies and unneeded references to eating people. This is why I don't usually preorder books with vague descriptions. If gore and very disturbing casual violence are you're thing, than you'll probably enjoy this mess.

Aside from the subject matter it's surprisingly well written. I'm not a prude or anything but overall way too much for me.

first will carver book for me and definitely won't be the last. I bought it because the other reviews said it was messed up, they weren't wrong. but that's one of the reasons I loved it.

TOO GRUESOME!

I'm no fainting violet but I got all the way to the last section and had to stop. It was a great idea and concept but my stomach could not take another second
