One of the biggest scores in Mafia history, the Lufthansa Airlines heist of 1978 has become the stuff of Mafia legend - and a decades-long investigation that continues to this day. Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Anthony DeStefano sheds new light on this legendary unsolved case using recent evidence from the 2015 trial of 80-year-old Mafia don Vincent Asaro, who for the first time speaks out on his role in the fateful Lufthansa heist. This blistering you-are-there account takes you behind the headlines and inside the ranks of America's infamous crime families - with never-before-told stories, late-breaking news, and bombshell revelations.

An invaluable addition to any crime library, this is the most complete, thorough, and up-to-date account of the Lufthansa heist currently available. Pulitzer Prize winner Anthony DeStefano draws from his years of experience reporting on the mob for New York Newsday - as well as his firsthand coverage of the Asaro indictment and attendance at the trial - to expose the all-too-human heart of organized crime in America. The Big Heist is thrilling, shocking, and impossible to pause.

this book is a great sequel to the movie Goodfellas. When I was listening to this book it reminded me a lot of the 1991 film and it overlaps very nicely with The Sopranos TV show and the many movies made about John Gotti. the author really teaches you a lot about the Lufthansa Heist the Lucchese and the Bonanno family's involvement in that larceny. And it really exposes how Lacks airport security was and Powell most irresponsible the airlines were in managing the air freight that they were responsible for. this is a really well researched book and the author does deserve respect and I'm interested to hear or read his next book

really good

A.K.A.
"The Lufthansa Heist"
It’s not a rehash of “GoodFellas”.
It ~IS~ a compelling in-depth (compendium comes to mind) look at ~ALL~ the characters in the crime that had jaws dropping all over the U.S. in Dec of 1978.

I was 18, trying to get “off the farm” in small town Oklahoma and recall the speculative conversation, from mild to wild that set in when the news broke. It brings us to the current (recent events) related to the prosecutions of people who weren’t even named in previous telling.

I’ve lost count of how many times I have watched “GoodFellas” along with “The Big Heist” and “The $10,000,000 Get Away” and look forward to watching these movies again with a broader schooling.

The fact it was in the Plus list at no cost, was a bonus. I would have gladly paid for the listen.

It’s not “The Henry Hill Story"

Amazing research went into writing this book if you’re a fan of reading books about the mafia you’re gonna love this one. Well at times it’s overage from the main topic, it’s still entertaining all the way through. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

A great journey into the world of the underworld, Trudy.
