In this thrilling New York Times bestseller from the worlds most celebrated writer, three bodies are found in a Chicago bedroom at the same time a black book goes missing—leaving the city in more danger than the detectives on the case can handle.

Billy Harney was born to be a cop. As the son of Chicago's chief of detectives with a twin sister on the force, Billy plays it by the book. Teaming up with his adrenaline-junkie partner, Detective Kate Fenton, there's nothing he wouldn't sacrifice for his job. Enter Amy Lentini, a hard-charging assistant attorney hell-bent on making a name for herself who suspects Billy isn't the cop he claims to be. They're about to be linked by more than their careers.

A horrifying murder leads investigators to an unexpected address-an exclusive brothel that caters to Chicago's most powerful citizens. There's plenty of incriminating evidence on the scene, but what matters most is what's missing: the madam's black book. Now with shock waves rippling through the city's elite, everyone's desperate to find it.

As Chicago's elite scramble to get their hands on the elusive black book, no one's motives can be trusted. An ingenious, inventive thriller about power, corruption, and the secrets that can destroy a city, The Black Book is James Patterson at his page-turning best.

Like always. This audiobook might be put in my re-listen list. The plot was good and notice the ending was a surprise for me. For instance like the protagonists father and what he did toward the conclusion of the story. This whole plot was for a black book that contain secret information which happens in today world and politics in my prospective. Good cop vs bad cop. Lol. I would recommend this to any other James Patterson fan. The only thing to keep in mind is just trying to keep the listeners to know what is happening throughout the story. But from other than that it is a great story to listen to.

Good story. Although it was kinda hard to follow the plot.

Why all the rage these days about flash forward and flash backward - past and present. Maybe just the stories I pick out but the back and forth can get old. The story was good and a twist at the end made it a satisfying listen.
