Downton Abbey meets Agatha Christie with a touch of Wodehouse and a dog of distinction.

Book 2 in The Heathcliff Lennox series

Who killed Sir Crispin Gibbons? A wedding invitation and news of mischief that could be murder, takes Lennox to the Earl of Bloxford's country pile. He soon finds himself in a world of purloined artworks, forgeries and a priceless Bloxford Beauty. But who are the Bloxford Beauties? And why are they the focal point around which swirls death? Lennox must confront life-long friends, unscrupulous artists and dealers to finally unravel a plot so complex that even his old adversary, Chief Inspector Swift of Scotland Yard, is befuddled.

Major Heathcliff Lennox, ex-WW1 war pilot, six feet 3 inches, unruly dark blond hair, age around 30 — named after the hero of Wuthering Heights by his romantically minded mother — much to his great annoyance.

Very well written and the recording was great.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series

Loved it!

This story was so good and I laughed out loud. I forgot to mention when I reviewed the first book that the descriptions of rooms and landscape were so clear that I could almost see it and smell it. Again I love the humor. Can't wait for the next one. Please hurry.

Even Better!

If you hunger for a clever cozy (as opposed to the dreary vapidity that dogs most of the contemporary genre), you've just found a feast. Thank goodness for an author sophisticated enough to avoid taking her, nonetheless endearing, protagonist too seriously. This smorgasborg of wit and delight is elevated further by the supernatural narration of Sam Dewhurst-Phillips. May he narrate great books for me forever.

Another Jewel from Ms Menuhin

Just as clever as the first. Humor still there, subtle. Well developed characters with an excellent narration!

a really fun story line. love the major even though he is a little rough around the edges. so glad I found this series. I ran out of M.C Beaton books, may she RIP. now I want clean books with good story lines and little cursing. as far as homophobic behavior, it was very unacceptable in 1921. so you are going to see reactions of the time. I really thought lady Ruth was the killer:) I'm usually good at seeing who was the culprit is. loved the narration! he can whisper into my ear anytime. now to book 3!

Loved the book!
