Dreams can become nightmares. May Rose has the husband, family, and boardinghouse she wanted, but managing business and doing her best for loved ones make challenging days and troubled nights. Now her husband is ailing, someone from the past is trying to find her, and malicious guests are poised to ruin her reputation. Sadly, blood is not always thicker than water.

This 5-book series interested me in that my family came from a coal-mining background. The first 4 books held my interest, but Book 5 seemed to get tiring, with the characters and such. I was hoping that the court case for May Rose's inheritance would come through and that the monies were used to build a new school for example. Although it fizzled out a wee bit, I loved the story line of women working together to get things done!
