THE NOVEL

The eldest son Dmitri, a passionate soldier torn between two women, stands accused. The intellectual Ivan has argued that without God, everything is permitted—and now faces the consequences of his own ideas. And the youngest, Alyosha, a novice monk, must navigate between his brothers' torments while preserving his own fragile faith.

At the heart of the novel lies the legendary "Grand Inquisitor" chapter, Ivan's devastating parable in which Christ returns to earth during the Spanish Inquisition—only to be condemned by the Church itself. It remains one of the most profound challenges to religious belief ever written.
