Eve Duncan and Joe Quinn must protect the life of a brilliant scientist so that she can live long enough to bring her discovery to the world in this fast-paced thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Iris Johansen.

Diane Connors is a dedicated doctor with the world’s biggest secret—a discovery that could have shocking global ramifications. But while conducting private research trials, word has gotten out. The wrong people have heard the news and now want to hide Diane’s achievement for their own ends.

With nowhere else to turn, Diane finds herself on the doorstep of the last man she wants to ask for help: her ex-husband, Joe Quinn. Joe has remarried, and he and his wife, Eve Duncan, seem blissfully happy in their quiet, rural life until they are faced with the challenge of risking it all for the greater good …

Now Eve is trapped in a web of murder and deceit as powerful enemies rush to cover up the truth, determined that Diane’s discovery goes with her to the grave—even if Eve and Joe get buried with her.

I enjoy all of the authors work. Enjoyed the story line in this book. The continued story or Eve and Joe is always exciting

Great story line

It should have been classified as both series, it was really equal billing for each couple. As always with both series, the story was unique and very exciting. Looking forward to more of both, plus really want more of Jane & Seth. Great narration by Elisabeth Rodgers.

As much a Ling/Cameron story as Duncan/Quinn

I have always enjoyed Johansen’s Eve Duncan series, but must say Rodgers’s narrative interpretation of all female characters dims the excitement. The female characters are intelligent, competent women, but enter a male character and suddenly the female is a neurotic, incompetent, weakling harpy. Having read the paper versions of many of this series, the females did not come across in that way. This interpretation does not do justice to Johansen’s work.

Great storyline

I began reading the series late, but I love it. It just seems the last few books has been a bit over the top with melodrama. I find the storylines were a little better before Eve and Jo had a child. It's as if the author has made her too emotional. In this book even the storyline of Catherine was a little over the top. Eve isn't as tough as she originally was. I get it, but it can be too much sometimes. Regardless, I do love the author and the series. I can get pass the small things.

Decent enough read
