#1 bestselling cosmic horror writer Donald Morrison’s The Cargo is a suffocating descent into isolation, paranoia, and an ancient terror unleashed in the cold dark between stars.

The crew of the starship Antori believed they had secured the easiest payday of their lives—transport a sealed container across a quiet stretch of space, no questions asked. The cargo was to remain untouched. Unexamined. Forgotten. But in the endless silence of the void, curiosity becomes its own kind of madness. And when one crew member breaks protocol, something inside the container awakens.

At first, it moves unseen. A sound in the ventilation shafts. A shadow where nothing should be. Then the killing begins. One by one, the crew are hunted through the ship’s narrow corridors, stalked by a relentless extraterrestrial predator that is intelligent, patient, and adapting. With their systems failing and escape slipping further from reach, the survivors begin to realize the true horror is not just the creature among them—but the fear growing within them.

Perfect for fans of Alien, Event Horizon, and The Thing, The Cargo is a relentless sci-fi horror thriller filled with mounting dread, claustrophobic tension, and the terrifying certainty that in deep space, there is nowhere left to run—and nowhere left to hide.

the story was good enough. AI narration was horrible. wish there was a way to opt out of that, it takes away from voice actors AND aspiring writers. really sad this was the only option to access this book. mind you, for articles or academic papers something monotonous reading is fine, for a piece of art it should not be allowed.

AI narration should be banned

a large monstrosity hunts down the crew of a cargo spaceship. sound familiar? this is not exactly an offshoot of the classic alien movies from yesteryear, but it is rather similar. in this story The Monster is brought on board as cargo, which a drunken crewman unwittingly releases. now don't snicker, the monster turns out to be a giant mosquito. sounds crazy, but it actually works. the action does not take long to start, and overall the story is well done. I liked it.

an okay sci-fi horror.

hate the AI voice, the story is mid at most but ok as background noise. the characters are as flat as paper.

AI voice is terrible stop using it

I liked the story and the characters. I had great difficulty finishing because of offensive profanity on every page. Unnecessary and unwelcome. Virtual voice is surprisingly realistic.

Good story; offensive vulgar language
