The Carrying Place located near The Mohawk River known as German Flats in upstate New York was first settled in 1723 by German Palatines. In 1750, Joshua Judd just eighteen was forced to kill his first Huron Indian after they killed his mother and father at his home far into the hills above German Flats. Alone, he traveled the ridge tops to reach German Flats, but little did he know, the killing would continue as he came across another lone cabin where two more settlers were brutality killed and scalped. Here he would find one survivor, Carrie Dunlop, who was his same age, and she too was now alone. Together they would finally ride into German Flats and there a new life will begin for them. This is their story from 1750 to 1794. A story of family, love and life along the Mohawk River. Americas Colonial Period United States
