Marriage is a big commitment...and so is murder.

Lorraine Elmore is a well-to-do widow who's ready to marry again. But nervous Linda Calhoun is certain that the man her aunt Lorraine has fallen for is a fortune-hunting Bluebeard who's out to make a killing - in more ways than one. Perry Mason allays Linda's paranoia - until Detective Paul Drake digs up enough dirt to convince the lawyer that dashing, mysterious Montrose Dewitt is digging a grave for his bride-to-be.

When the amorous aunt and her amour elope, the chase is on. But when Lorraine's supposedly sinister suitor is the one who ends up murdered, the pressure is on Mason to prove that the blushing bride isn't the one who drew blood.

One of the best Perry Masons I’ve ever read. Interesting fast paced good story. And it was interesting to read it I think

Fast paced

There are many good things about this book: I like the fact that the chapter markings are made at the chapter divisions. All audio books should be this way, but some just make breaks anywhere -- usually every 30 minutes or so regardless.

In this story, I thought the narrator did an outstand job on George Latty's voice.

The other voices are all pretty good, with the exception of Perry Mason, and this is the reason for the 4-star instead of 5. Either the narrator is from a southern state, or, for same reason, he is giving Perry Mason a slight southern drawl that doesn't fit with the character (in my opinion).

Aside from that small issue, an enjoyable listening experience.

Enjoyable Story

Has the fun, normal tricks, twists, and turns of a Perry Mason book, but what sets it apart - and makes this story more enjoyable for me- is that Perry's client isn't constantly lying to him and most of the main characters aren't pathological liars either. Listening to others in this series, the continual lying for no discernable reason is just annoying. Happily for me, the liar in this one actually gets in trouble for perjury. Nice!

One of the best of the series

Gardner’s story telling at its best. Many seemingly unrelated characters increased the number of possible solutions until the very end. Great read!
