I cannot express how badly I HATE virtual voice.
it ruins the best of stories.
1st off the voice sounds like some weird old English robot. I have no idea why they would choose such an annoying whispery, soft, old English voice for stories about strong American women.
The very worst part of the horrible virtual voice is the total lack of emotions.
(This is not a sentence from the story.) It is hard to describe in written words. When read by a humanthereistones, inflection, you hear the panic. "HELLLLP!!! HELLLLP!!! MY BAAAABY IS IN THERRRRE!!!!!"
With virtual voice the same sentence is like a heartless psychopath is reading it. Totally devoid of emotions. help.............help.........my baby...........is in.........there.
It is impossible to get behind a hero/heroine, or hate a villian when they all sound like lifeless, monotone drones. Who cares what these lifeless mannequins are doing. The whole story is ruined.
Virtual voice could ruin Gone With The Wind.
Imagine Scarlett's iconic "As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again,"
With Virtual voice... "as...god...as....my....wit....ness.......i...ll....ne...v...er.....be hu....n...gr....y...... a.....gai....no."
Frankly my dear virtual voice "I don't give a damn." About you and you horrid stoy telling.
It is getting harder and harder to find a book on Audible read by a human. If it continues I am canceling my subscription.
LibriVox may have some bad readers. BUT... better a bad Human reader the the horrible virtual voice.
PLUS LibriVox is FREE!!!!
If I am forced to listen to good stories being butchered by bad narration I am not going to pay these crazy high prices. I will get better reading for free at LibriVox!!!!
Great Stories Horrable performance
