When Ben Winters and Lara Cottridge hear that a Vermont radio station is hosting a Christmas contest with a $10,000 prize for a charitable project of the winner’s choice, they seize the challenge. Although strangers, they both are obsessed with all things Christmas and each has their own worthy pet project in mind.

News of the contest creates a lot of buzz, but most participants fall at the first hurdle - a timed online quirky Christmas quiz. The second, a stressful on-air quiz whittles the field down to two - Briarhill Falls residents Lara and Ben who are surprised that they have never met.

As the contest heats up with five further Christmas-themed challenges, the town and state become enthralled by the battle of wits and skill. Soon Lara and Ben realize they have far more in common than a love of Christmas. And far more at stake. Will their competition stand in the way of falling in love?

Cute.

This was a cute holiday listen. I liked the idea of the Christmas competition, the challenges that Ben and Lara had to do were fun and festive. I wanted them both to win, they each had such good reasons for participating. I liked the secondary cast of characters, especially Ben's students. I loved how invested in them he was, wanting to do things to help them out. Lara was sweet with how she wanted to make a nice Christmas for her grandmother and the rest of the folks at the home.
The ending was a little predictable, but hey, it made me happy and for this time of year that's all that matters.

I wish this was dual narration. I don't like when the is told in dual pov but only one person narrates it. Andrea Emmes would have been fine doing Lara's part, and she did a good job with the male characters, but I would have liked it better if a male had performed Ben's pov.

Predictable

Not a fave but I was invested and it wasn’t too long, thankfully. It was predictable if not a touch sappy. I couldn’t engage with the main female character at all and i don’t know why.

It was an adorable read!! A definite must go to :: A definitely uplift around the holidays!!

The story was pretty good. The reader was just barely ok. It was enjoyable though.

This is one of the most adorable books I’ve ever listened to. I loved every minute of it… great to listen to when in the Christmas spirit!
