For four years at Annapolis he prepared for this, pledging his youth, his ambition, and even his life. But when junior officer Dan Lenson finally gets his commission, it's an aging World War II destroyer. Now, with a mix of pride and fear, he heads into the world's most dangerous seas.

As the Ryan plunges into the dark waters of the Arctic Circle at the height of storm season, Lenson and the crew pursue a mysterious and menacing enemy. But he soon discovers a foe even more dangerous within the Ryan, advancing a shocking agenda that drives the ship closer and closer to disaster - testing Lenson's life and loyalty to their very limit.

Poyer knows how to tell a story, and this, his third book, is one of the best. The descriptions of the ship, the crew, and the sailing conditions are all very realistic. Very well done.

one of the best

The author does an outstanding job describing the vessel, crew and situation, as well as the story. The descriptive details make the reading, much more enjoyable. It was easy to imagine the sights and smells of the destroyer . This book was quite enjoyable, and worthy of a read.

I became seasick listening to this book.

Out of the first three books this one is an absolute nailbiter. The descriptions of men fighting the elements and danger at sea is enough to cause panic and lightheadedness. Absolute adrenaline rush and very expertly written.

Most boring non historical book I have ever listened too. I was a QM in the navy so,I have experienced some of this and I fell asleep multiple times during this book. First 2 books were ok, but, this one oh my god unnecessary and could have been told in a flashback type sequence and in half the fricken time. Boring!

Long boring and drawn out
