With the help of his friend, JR Diminski, retired FBI profiler Sean Kruger rescues a female graduate student after she is kidnapped from the university campus where he teaches. He finds the abduction too familiar. From 1999 through 2002 six female college students vanished, without a trace, from four different college campuses across the country. As the lead FBI investigator on those now cold cases, his failure to find the women and the person responsible still haunts him.

When JR discovers a clue to the identity of the kidnapper, Kruger comes out of retirement to reexamine the abductions. His ensuing investigation will lead him down a dark trail - one of dark money and even darker passions.

Will Sean succeed, or will the past repeat itself?

Tightly plotted with the trademark twists and turns of a J.C. Fields novel, The Cold Trail will keep you listening late into the night.

Always enjoy Sean Kruger’s adventures. He has a way of getting people so angry at him it’s almost amusing. Can’t wait for the next book!

Great listen

I like Sean Kruger and the rest of the characters, good depth, well fleshed out. Just another plain good book, also enjoyed the performance.

I hope there are more on the way

I was pretty positive volume 3 was the end of the Sean Kruger Series, but I am thrilled to see Kruger hasn’t lost his amazing detective talents. This is volume 4 of a series but it can be a read-alone as well; readers are giving a small back story when needed to keep the flow of the story going. The kidnapper/murderer has managed to slip through Sean’s hands and I am glad the families finally got the much needed closure they needed after all these years. (This isn’t a spoiler; it’s more about the twists in the plot, than this)
The Cold Trail is as good, if not better, than the earlier volumes of the series and, as always J.C.Fields does not disappoint! This is an easy 4 Star book.
I listened to the audio edition and McSorley did a great job narrating!

This Series keeps getting better!

Each book in this series just keeps getting better and better!! From the first paragraph, I settled into the familiar narration and the character, and could not have been happier.

Yes, the listen was a tad disturbing (well, actually, a lot disturbing) but, it's Sean Kruger so things will work out. Mostly. It's a great stand-alone listen so if you are late to this series, you still get all the special.

McSorley is a great narrator and he's great at being Sean Kruger. (Thank goodness!!) I absolutely love this series!
