Acclaimed for her moving depictions of interracial love, best-selling author Sandra Kitt delivers a passionate and provocative tale of modern romance.

An artist trapped in an unfulfilling relationship, Leah Downey wants more out of life. But she plays it safe, never venturing too far from her comfort zone... not since the night she was mugged at knifepoint. Beginning a relationship with a perfect stranger is completely out of character for Leah. But something about Jason Horn strikes a chord deep within her. They couldn’t be more different. Jason is white, a streetwise New York cop haunted by his own demons. He’s stunned by his instant attraction to this vibrant black woman who arouses both desire and his fiercest protective instincts.

This book was so very good I can't even explain. I'm in tears right now. As a black women married happily to a white male this just touched my heart.
It is so very nice to read a story about a subject so close to my heart.
This read was hard from a racial stand and must have been set in the late eighties or early nineties based on the references of the Vietnam War.
So I imagine things were slightly harder for interracial couples. But the fundamental issues are still there and I love overcomes and remains colorblind

Oh my goodness ...Tear Jerker

I really liked this book and would recommend this book. I wish this author didn't use God's name in vain. You don't have to use " GD " to have a good book. I would have given it 5 stars if not for that. I didn't like how Leah let her sister and Allen basically run over her with their betrayal. What year was it 1920-1940's? For Leah and Jason to face all the prejudices with being an interracial couple. That part of the story threw me for a loop. I thought the author went a bit to much on that and how Leah was treated by her sister. I wish this book was a movie.

story was so drawn out about nothing. the love scenes were boring. the lead character was such a pushover. she had no voice. they couple was so extra with the interracial emotional drama with one another for what I would say we're minor issues, at least for the woman. you would think she was threatened or something based on how dramatic she was about the racial issues.

Leah was weak willed and a complete doormat with her convincing self centered sister and ex. I can not imagine anyone woman, I personally know who would still be living in the same home with her sister and taking advice from said sister.

I am completely flabbergasted with the relationship between Leah and Gail. The fight and anger she showed Jason, should have been same fight she provided her sister and ex. The sheer fact that they can openly be involved in front of her truly taints this romance for me

I do like the realistic nature of adults dating. I was angry with how Jason pulled away but it is realistic.

I first read this story when I was a teenager and was the very first interracial romance I ever read. I loved it then and now that I have had much more life experience love it even more.
