"...thought-provoking memoir that intertwines personal spiritual experiences with historical analysis to explore the true story of Jesus Christ... Overall, the book provides an enlightening journey into the intersections of history, theology, and personal spirituality." ~IndieReader Verdict
"★★★★ LaFond threads together theology, psychology, skepticism, and spirituality. He attempts to uncover not just the historical Jesus, but a deeper, internal experience of “Christ” as universal awareness. This is no ordinary religious memoir; it is part philosophical musing, part confessional, and part critique of organized religion." ~Literary Titan Reviews.
"★★★★ ...the language is easy to understand and follows a scientific way of thinking, helping to counteract the book’s casual organization. The fact that each chapter is written like an independent essay on a particular topic also leads to continual refreshed interest.... The Conspiracy of the Christ is a bold and illuminating theological memoir about faith, culture, and biblical scholarship, all considered against the backdrop of personal experiences." ~Foreword Clarion Reviews
My desire to gain attention for Jesus Christ Divided inspired me to write a memoir of my process in producing that book, but once I began writing the book quickly expanded to something that I had not anticipated. The Conspiracy of the Christ developed as my life story with the focus on my spiritual journey, ultimately merging with my scholarly journey, and reporting the history of earliest Christianity. The book only works because it is literal and logical as I am. I give a descriptive overview of all the useful texts and a bibliography of books that are helpful to the reader in further researching for themselves. I always want the reader to know how and where I came by the ideas that I discuss. That's just good science.
My approach is anthropological, and I focus on facts that most people overlook as inconsequential. However, in understanding the human story of how Jesus Christ became God, those details are crucial. Those details resolve the many contradictions that keep the Gospel a myth— a myth that I distill as history. However, the hook that pivots the whole thesis is that spirituality is a real thing, a human thing, and that was the basis of the teachings of Jesus Christ. The journey was surprising and rewarding.
You will know why Christianity became successful, beating out all other great philosophies. You will know the secret meaning of the teachings of Jesus Christ. This miraculous book will boost your own spiritual journey.
