Widowed mom Mindi Kirkland moves from North Carolina to Florida’s Atlantic coast to live closer to her grown daughter, Leah. For introverted Mindi, this is a big step, but after finding an adorable cottage in the charming community of Ocean Mist, she hopes this is the right move. After enduring a painful marriage with her late husband, Mindi has no interest in a romantic relationship, but wants to focus on decorating her cottage and taking beach photographs in her new town.

Widower Tim Garrett enjoys being around people, but after being released from his corporate position to now work for a lawn service in Jacksonville, Florida, he’s adjusting to a lifestyle of more solitude. He’s thankful his grown daughter Wendy lives close by, but he’s beginning to long for a relationship with someone in his age group. When he’s assigned a landscaping job in the tiny town of Ocean Mist, he’s drawn not only to the charming cottage on Seagull Lane, but also to its soft-spoken owner.

Mindi wonders if she can trust Tim, and refuses to endure another painful marriage again. Tim sees the potential for a lasting relationship with the shy woman who’s captured his heart—if only he can convince her to trust him.
