Before there is war, there are those willing to fight...no matter the cost.

France, 1938. While Hitler rebuilds Germany and French and English leaders focus on appeasement, one man risks everything to smuggle information out of Munich - and into the hands of a young woman.

Evelyn Ainsworth is enjoying a carefree summer with her relatives in the high society of Paris. When her father stops to visit on his way from London to Prague, she never dreams that one favor for him will change her life forever. For beneath the glittering gaiety on the continent, a menacing shadow is growing. While many choose to look the other way, there are some who are desperate to combat the growing evil. And others even more desperate to empower it.

Offered a chance to make a difference, Evelyn is drawn unexpectedly into a world she didn’t know existed. A world where war is much closer than anyone thinks, information is gold…and no one is safe.

A very good start to a series that I want to follow. Evelyn has been trained by life to be the perfect "spy." After a taste of the danger and a look into the eyes of evil, will she choose to continue or return to her upper-class lifestyle?

Intrigue that makes me want more!

This book tells The story of a woman who is unwilling to be forced into the stereotypes of women, especially back in those days. Instead, she willingly gets involved in what is at first as simple handoff of information, but which spirals into direct engagement with the Gestapo.

The characters are not cardboard Cut outs like they are in some books. The characters have depth and follow realistic progression of actions and emotions.

Though the book is relatively short, it is a great introduction to work hopefully will be a great series that I’m looking forward to diving into.

Me, voice actor does a phenomenal job reading the story using different voices for the different characters very effectively.

First Rate WWII Thriller

Love WW2 historical-fiction type books, but so often disappointed by books like this where some sassy girl outwits simpleton Nazi adversaries, like they walked off the set of Hogan’s Heroes. I generally stay away from female authors - especially in this genre - but occasionally give one a try. This book didn’t make me rethink the bias - not moving on to book 2.

Predictable girl power
