Model Exploitation

This well-written book takes you into the life of a neglected teenager (Birdie) who walked into an accidental modeling career in her early teens. Birdie's story highlights the decadence of the supposedly glamorous life of models and rock stars in the late 70s through the 90s. The author does a great job of taking you back to that time (Brooke Shields' early career, Creem magazine, arena rock, etc.). A neglected and lonely adolescent, Birdie is easy prey for a sexual predator with a preference for teenager girls.

I found Birdie to be a believable character who eventually found a purpose in life, as well as some redemption.

While the book dragged a bit in places, it quickly got back on track. The book is very much credit worthy.
