Very Interesting and Fun

I didn’t expect this audiobook to grip me the way it did. Jeffrey Rittenhouse’s storytelling transports you right into the heart of these shocking encounters, making you feel every ounce of fear, confusion, and awe that the victims must have felt. As someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, these true stories hit close to home. it’s a chilling reminder that wildlife doesn’t always stay in the wild. Zachary Dylan Brown’s narration adds an eerie realism; his calm tone makes the tension in each story even more haunting. What I appreciated most is how the book balances raw emotion with thoughtful insight into how humans and animals are colliding more often. It’s unsettling, fascinating, and impossible to stop listening once you start. I think he should do one for the sea next being that im a diver and there are some scary creatures down there.

Wild stories where nature crosses the line

I’m a big fan of those events where animal life collides with the human world in unexpected ways, and I’m also a big fan of the Dangerous Animals series, so I welcomed this audiobook with open arms. The stories are wild, and the chapters are short, which makes it perfect to listen to a couple of them while doing other things like cooking or even taking a shower, without losing focus.

I didn’t know about the huge number of animal attacks in Pennsylvania, especially those involving coyotes. My favorite story was about the man who saved his dog from the fangs of a large coyote, and that was just the beginning of the story of a single problematic animal that went through many towns, attacking everyone it crossed.

Eye Opening

The Coyote at the Door works particularly well as an audiobook, with its tight, intense true stories that make an absorbing, disturbing listen. Hearing those encounters occur — in everyday scenes such as front yards, parks, walking trails, and workplaces — builds the tension and makes the danger feel immediate and real. The narration keeps things moving and makes it easy to listen in short sessions. Many of the stories, though, have rabid coyotes or mother black bears with cubs, and the repetition dulls the impact over time. A wider range of animals would have kept the listening experience fresher. In general, it’s a gripping audiobook, making you much more aware of just how close wildlife can be, even in places that tend to feel safe.
