A fast-paced and engaging narrative about a medical assistant who despairs of finding the funds for his final year of medical school until, while defending himself against the belligerent spouse of a patient, he ends up knocking out the town's best candidate to defeat the local boxing champion, the Croxley Master. Learning that the impending fight carries prize money which would see him through his education, he agrees to step in as the new challenger and see whether he can defeat the Croxley Master.

I read this book years ago and was instantly captivated by it. It’s not an overly complicated novel but highlights what it is to be willing to literally bleed for something important to one and take a chance on oneself. I may be biased since I found several relatable aspects of this book to my own experiences but nonetheless this is a classic. I thought the narrator did a a great job as well and I appreciated the accent. Folks need inspiration in this world, be it within themselves or as witness to someone else’s perseverance. Take a chance on yourself. Well done Sir Arthur.
