Detective Inspector Alison Raines is a woman dedicated to the job, that job being to protect her city and to speak for the dead. Her uncomplicated world is coming to an end with a cancer diagnosis that will cut short a life that revolved around work and little else.

Many characters developed

I liked the developed characters and the storyline didn't leave threads hanging. I liked that there was no smut which is hard to find in vampire fiction. The evil of the vampires didn't take over the whole story. The only thing that came up short was the AI narrator which mispronounced a few words and sometimes it was hard to know which character was speaking or thinking.

Dry good story

I liked the story line and the characters… the book did not drag the story kept me interested
